His latest film Hit Man premiered on Netflix last night and honestly I was surprised at how good this film is. It’s an action comedy with a romantic twist which sees Powell play a college professor named Gary Johnson, who works part time for the New Orleans Police Department as a fake hit man.
Gary creates a bunch of characters to meet with people who are looking to hire a hit man to kill someone, gets them to agree to the contract, and then slinks away while the NOPD swoops in and arrests them.
Gary’s new gig is going really well until he meets Maddy, a woman who wants him to kill her abusive, controlling husband.
Hit Man is a… hit, combining palpable chemistry between the leads, clever plot twists, and genuine comedic timing.
