It’s my favourite time of the month, where I share the books I’ve read, loved and would genuinely recommend to the people in my life.

This month I’ve got two pacey thrillers for you and two literary fiction novels that will make you think about the world around you — it’s a literary balanced diet!

Here are my favourite reads from February:

First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston

When Reese Witherspoon chooses a thriller for her book club, I always pay attention. She has a knack for choosing books that combine a compelling narrative, likeable characters, and interesting observations about the world we live in.

First Lie Wins follows a 20-something woman named Evie Porter, who has just moved to a small town and started dating a local man.

Evie’s life seems perfect, that is, until a woman turns up in town who looks just like her, and is using her real name and true backstory.

This pacey thriller is action-packed and full of suspense, with fully fleshed out characters you’ll quickly fall in love with.

Read it if you liked: The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave and None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell

The Fury by Alex Michaelides

From the author of The Silent Patient comes another clever thriller, with a gasp out loud twist.

The Fury follows Elliot Chase, a one hit wonder playwright and the close confidant of reclusive former film star, Lana Farrar. When Lana invites Elliot and a close group of friends to her private Greek Island for Easter (as you do), they believe they’re in for a relaxing weekend in the sun. But within days, someone is dead and everyone is a suspect.

This isn’t your average locked room mystery though — it’s a mystery within a mystery within a mystery told from the point of view of one of the cheekiest unreliable narrators ever created.

Pick up a copy of The Fury if you want to spend a rainy day with your nose in a masterfully paced thriller.
