#6 Things I've been obsessed with this week.
A wild new investigative podcast, two Aussie dramas, and the best piece of longform journalism I've read this year.
Hello!
In 2012, a 16-year-old girl named Megan Bhari set up a charity to grant wishes to seriously ill children in the UK.
The charity, Believe in Magic, was an overnight success story and even attracted the support of One Direction, the biggest boy band in the world.
Then Megan was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Her mother, Jean, told Megan’s supporters the tumour had grown “tentacles” that wrapped around her brain stem, and they needed to raise $15,000 for lifesaving treatment in the US.
That’s when the doubts crept in. A group of internet sleuths became determined to prove that Megan wasn’t sick at all.
The new BBC Sounds podcast Believe in Magic investigates Megan’s story and discovers the truth is even wilder than the internet sleuths could have ever imagined.
