Hello!
In the opening monologue of the new Prime Video series Expats, Ji-Young Yoo’s character Mercy talks about tragic accidents, like the well-known doctor who fell asleep behind the wheel and killed pedestrians. She says the perpetrators in these stories often get overlooked as we focus on the victims. Then she reveals that she’s one of those perpetrators and not a day goes by where she doesn’t think about the people whose life she destroyed.
The series, a slow-burning drama with a dash of mystery, follows three American women living in Hong Kong — Mercy (Yoo), Margaret (Nicole Kidman), and Hilary (Sarayu Blue), whose lives intersect after a tragedy.
The series explores class, privilege, race and how the lines between victim and perpetrator are often blurry.
The first two episodes are streaming on Prime now, with new episodes dropping weekly.
