This week I have a British rom-com series for you that’s perfect for fans of Starstruck and Catastrophe.

Smothered was written by Schitt’s Creek writer Monica Heisey (I recommended her debut novel Really Good, Actually in my October book roundup) and stars Danielle Vitalis as 26-year-old Sam, who meets Tom (Jon Pointing), a 30-something single dad in a bar and proposes that they have a ‘three-week affair’ and then forget about each other.

Of course, the path to short-term, no-strings-attached affairs never runs smoothly and soon Sam and Tom start to develop feelings for each other. Those feelings only become more complicated when they discover they already have someone in common.

It’s like a modern day When Harry Met Sally… with a lot more sex and swearing.
