It’s spooky season, so of course I’ve been busy binge-watching creepy new TV series. First off the bat is Netflix’s The Fall Of The House Of Usher. Based on the work of Edgar Allan Poe, Mike Flanagan’s latest series follows siblings Roderick and Madeline, who have built a life of wealth, power and privilege through their family business, Fortunato Pharmaceuticals. But soon the heirs to the Fortunato fortune are being killed off one-by-one by a mysterious woman from the siblings’ past.
It’s kind of like Succession, except all the Roy siblings are murdered before they can work through their daddy issues.
And Paramount+’s The Burning Girls is The Wicker Man meets The Vicar of Dibley.
Reverend Jack Brooks and her daughter arrive in Chapel Croft, a small Sussex village in the hopes of a fresh start. But soon they learn about the village’s dark history — including two young girls being burnt at the stake in the 1800s and the mysterious disappearance of another two young girls 30 years…
